Contemporary Dance Performance
Elizabeth
04-06 April 2019: Megaron - The Athens Concert Hall
In a subversive and playful manner, dwelling upon the anatomy of human psychology, the choreographer studies the mechanisms of the creation of meaning for the world around us, drawing inspiration from an emblematic historical figure, Queen Elizabeth I.
'Are we ever free of meaning? Or are we constantly radiating it from the moment that we are born?'
This performance, staged with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports (2018-19), is the outcome of a process during which interscientific and intersectoral research is encouraged by the choreographer and the dance group.
About the Performance
Elizabeth explores the complex relationship between identity, power, and perception. The performance uses dance as a medium to examine how historical figures continue to influence our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
